Martin Limburn

When I was young, I wanted to do 2 things in life, firstly server in the armed forces, secondly to run my own business. I joined the Royal Navy and served in the submarine service from 17 until I had to retire on medical ground. I took the knowledge I gained during my service and worked for a local Internet Service Provider.

But after a short while I found I wanted to run a business and so I founded Limbtec in 2002.

I identified a gap in the market, to provide an outsourced IT department for SME’s mainly in Plymouth, but also further afield in Devon and Cornwall, whilst working for a local internet service provider who outsourced the support staff to help our business customers, problem being that most of the technical support staff hated doing this! One thing we have continued over the years is employing staff that can talk plain English with our customers, mostly by employing staff with technical ability who come from a customer service role.

One thing I identified early on was that to give our customers great value we had to be proactive and had to have the ability to monitor and remediate issues remotely, even better if we could do that before it even affected the user of the device.  Which is exactly where we are today.  Although we still provide people in person when it is needed or wanted by the customer.

Our focus is to provide the best IT Support and services delivered with cyber security at the front of all we do.

Education

We have taken the best of what we do with businesses, and wrapped it up specially for use in Education, particularly Primary Education.  We currently serve over 20 school, mainly small rural schools.

Security is a particular focus in education, and whilst it is important, it can also be tricky to deliver.
